| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I brought my saw & cleared the dangerous blowdown on Franconia Ridge Trail 0.1 mi from the Liberty Springs junction. Two people had hit their heads on it earlier this week with 1 requiring 8 stitches. I also cleared 4 other blowdowns. There are still several fairly big trunks that will become a problem if we get a fair amount more snow but currently they can be walked under easily. |

| Comments: |
Great conditions once again. No snowshoes needed. We could easily have barebooted for a while but preferred to start with spikes from the parking lot. Everything is well packed granular snow with good traction except for the section from the end of the Basin BW to about 0.2mi above Flume Slide junction. We had no trouble there on the way up but it was difficult on the way down because 1" of new snow covered the ice making it impossible to see. Even with brand new sharp spikes it wasn't enough to prevent slipping in spots so foot placement was crucial in that section. The rest was easy. |
