Snowshoes from start to finish. Two of us broke out the trail this morning and laid out a nice track. It was excellent snowshoe conditions. A few inches of crunchy snow to start increasing to about 6-8 inches. Deeper, more powdery along the ridge with some drifting. We went clockwise around the loop. The ice was mostly covered and we had great traction with mountain snowshoes both up north and down south. It was a zero fall day until my friend caught her snowshoe and tripped on a perfectly flat section of HNT.
We were lucky to be the first on the trails today. Lots of people out after us and many bare booting it, some with butt sleds on their packs. The trail down south could very well be a luge track by now. |
