Comments
Comments: Another quick hike to get out, enjoy the day, and get some good views (although limited due to cloud cover). In general, for the whole hike there was a crust of ice over 0-3" of snow (maybe more on the BW); and many locations ice, generally in the tire groves of the roads. The road walk up HMR is gradual. Once at the power lines, we headed south on the service roads all the way to a level lookout just before entering the forest for the BW. Views were great, although limited under cloudy skies. We entered the forest BW to the summit, headed to a ridge for the final ascent to the summit; jar which was easy to locate. We noticed that the service road split and went through the forest, as well as under the power lines. On the return, we took a service road into the forest, instead.

We barebooted up, however, used spikes on the way down due to the high number of ice flows on the roads. Lots of critter prints in the snow. Mostly deer, limited moose, and tons of coyote (I believe), plus the usual smaller critters.
