 | Water Crossing Notes: |
First crossing toward the start of Sandwich Mountain trail had higher water level than usual so we continued walking to the left side of the bank until there was a fallen tree bridging an "island" in the middle of the brook. Crossed there and was rock hoppable on the other side. Drake's Brooks crossings were all rock hobbable. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Couple large blowdowns across Drake's Brook. Can hop over or around. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw at least one. Seemed fine for furry friends. |

 | Comments: |
Great day out despite the up and down forecasts in the Whites all week. Sandwich Mountain trail is well packed down with some light snow drift over the hard pack. We did not see the spur to Noon peak and decided it probably wasn't packed out so we didn't bother to try to find it. Trail from Jennings to Sandwich had slightly deeper snow in spots where snowshoes might have been the smarter choice but we stayed in spike until maybe a quarter mile descending Drake's Brook. Two of 3 wore snowshoes so the trail should be reasonably packed down, but wasn't more than 6-8" deep in most places. Ski trail at the bottom on Drake's Brook was pretty boney. Will need another big snow to be xc skiable. |
