Absolutely gorgeous, windy day up on the ridge. Only needed spikes, wished I'd carried my ice axe for a few very windy & icy spots along the ridge and heading down Lafayette. Trail is ice and extremely hard-packed snow, so only spikes were needed [but snowshoes should be carried in the event of an emergency]. When we got below tree line near the hut, stepping back onto snow felt like taking off shoes after a long day and stepping on a fluffy carpet!! Dreamy. Hopefully more snow coming this week! |
