Nice hike to kickoff MLK weekend. Trail was quite pitted (not postholes) from hikers the previous day in the rain before the freeze. Microspikes up and down worked fine. Saw a couple of folks bare booting who seemed to do ok as well. Saw a group laboring in snowshoes. Bate booting would have been better IMO. A little cloudy at summit but afternoon was improving on our way out. Look for a white mink on the right side on last little ascent before the summit after the Indian Head Trail cutoff. |
