Comments
Comments: To avoid crowds on the holiday weekend, and do a bit of red-lining, did a short (3 mile) loop in Crawford Notch. Went south on West Side Trail to the AT, took Webster Cliff Trail for a short distance and then returned to Willey House via Saco River and Sam Willey trails. West Side trail was not broken out, so I used snowshoes. Otherwise, spikes did the trick. West Side Trail gets little use, apparently. It is not blazed particularly well, but with care you could almost always see the next blaze. Also, a lot of blowdowns on this trail. Saco River Trail seems to be busier, especially the closer you get to the Willey House.
