We started around 7:30am and we were the first ones on the trail. We wore snowshoes start to finish and broke trail. Snow was very light and powdery, and we were able to get a nice track started. I switched to Hillsounds and did another lap. Snow was still pretty soft. Did not post hole, but trail still needed some more snow shoe love. On my final descent there were two hikers heading up in snowshoes and helped to pack it down a bit more. Almost to the trailhead one more hiker was heading up in spikes (and his pup was very happy!). I finished a little before 11:30am, and not sure what kind of trail traffic after I left, but trail was getting a nice track laid down. Should be great for Sunday before the next snowfall comes in Sunday night. Just one note, the last push to the summit has some areas of rock where the snow is very thin and the rocks have some ice. Nothing major, but want to mention. |
