Comments
Comments: Counter clockwise loop. Frankenstein Cliff had seen one booter and one snowshoer up to the ice fall area, then unbroken until about halfway around, then a trough from a track laid before the last storm. The ice fall area is a bit risky but you are not exposed long if you hurry. Suggest getting through that area before 9 AM when the sun gets onto it. We wore snowshoes car to car. Only two scrambles going up Frankenstein Cliff, both easily done with snowshoes on. Nice views to Washington going up. Got off the trail for a short distance once or twice, but found it again without issue. Once up on top of the cliffs it's a beautiful walk in the woods alternating between hardwood and evergreen forests all the way to Arethusa Falls junction. We noted that the Falcon Cliff and Arethusa-Ripley Falls trails were not broken out. We went down to check out the falls. Beautiful as always, and some ice climbers having some fun there too. Arethusa Falls is a sidewalk top to bottom.
