Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The brook along the Avalon Tr has only a 6" rock levy holding the water in the river bed at one section. This may be a problem next spring if the river jumps over and heads down the trail. One blowdown near Mt Tom summit. There is a herd path going around and another on Willey Range Tr near the Ethan Pond Tr junction that was easy to go over. WRT is a bit brushy between Field and Willey but better blazed this year. Lots of usual erosion heading down the south side of Willey.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie had a great time. Lots of water and snow for dogs.

Comments
Comments: A good day for this loop. The sun kept trying to shine through the clouds but disappeared by the end of the hike. Although cloudy, the Presidentials were in the clear giving great views from all three summits. The trails were a mix of melting snow and crusty ice but not enough for me to put on my microspikes. The ladders on Willey Range Tr were wet but free of snow and ice. We walked the RR Tracks from Kendron Flume Tr to Crawford Depot. Very scenic and interesting spot near the Willard Section House. Not sure if it's ok to walk the tracks but the train had stopped running for the season and I had wanted to do this for a while. Very nice. Saw only 9 other hikers and had a nice chat with 3 between Field and Willey.
