Comments
Comments: Probably 3ish inches of new fluffy snow on the ground today. Followed a duo of tracks up Haystack Road, from the one other car at the trailhead, but they kept going straight at the turnoff for FR 304A. Wore spikes in on the road, but switched to snowshoes at the forest road, and left them on for the whole rest of the day. Then followed a set of fox tracks up FR 304A, but they didn't continue up the bushwhack. The bushwhack was easy enough to follow at the start, there was a faint depression to follow from previous hikes before the last round of snow. I ended up weaving on/off of the established bushwhack route on the way up, there wasn't enough trail trace to follow. Sporadically encountered pink flagging on trees, but not frequently enough to properly connect the dots. Found much better lines to follow on the way down, but those avoided any of the view points on the edge of the ridge; it was all in the clouds today, so I wasn't missing out on anything.
