Thought our day was made when we saw three women come off the trail in snowshoes as we were about to start, NO POSTHOLES :). Had a nice track for the first mile or so until we started to run into lots of people in spikes, the trail had been decently packed down due to sheer volume of people but once we started getting to tree line the bareboots started doing a real number with several fresh inches of snow and good sized drifts. The trail only got worse at the rim trail where people from the ski area and tram have completely torn up the trail making travel hard in snowshoes. The decent was not as bad as the last couple people coming down had snowshoes and helped smooth it out for our descent. If heading out on this trail I strongly recommend snowshoes. |
