First mile to Bonner Falls was fairly packed snow, maybe 4 inches deep. We opted for snowshoes as it was more efficient. After the falls snow depth increased steadily to 8-10 inches, 12 in spots.
Crusty couple inches over about 8-10in. of powder that does not want to pack down. Some areas of trail oddly down to dirt/leaves, some muddy spots, but mostly snow covered.
Two people broke trail with snowshoes ahead of us, we passed them about a mile in and continued breaking trail with snowshoes. Most people out today bare booted though.
Snowshoes recommended, many bare booters today churned up the snowshoe tracks we set....but then again snow is not packing well, so it's probably a toss up.
Really pretty trail with waterfalls, good water flow. I want to head back to explore more. While the draw is usually north, I need to remember to go south more as there are some pretty areas to be explored. |
