Interesting day. We got a late start around 9am with a small team of Bob C, Carrie C, myself and Tom, surprised to see so many cars when we arrived. Turns out there was a large AMC group and some others out on the trail. We caught up to the AMC group coming out of the wonky spot in the ravine. Above them were two or three small groups who had been busting ass to get that trail broken. Wish we could have helped out sooner because by the time they got to North, one of the groups had a few people that needed to turn back.
Conditions were tough. A couple inches of crust that didn't want to break and when it did it slanted awkwardly underfoot, with loose powder underneath. That was the bad news. The good news was every single person on the trail was rocking their 'shoes today. It was a team effort to get that trail in good shape. |
