Snowshoes from start to finish. Started at Wildcat ski area at 7AM to get to summit of D before area opens for skiers (9AM on weekdays). All trails were recently groomed and easy to traverse. Snowshoes are a must on the ski trails to prevent damage to groomed ski trails.
Some slight drifting on the ridge (really very little), but fortunately one person in snow shoes went through ahead of us, thanks so much. Two snowshoers were coming behind us to pack the trails even more. However, we passed 2 skiers in boots coming up from Carter Notch, heading over the E to ski the back side. So, the trails may have taken a beating.
19MB was in great shape, nicely packed the entire route back to the parking lot. Overall trails in great shape, get them while you can. |
