Comments: Picked a grand day for a spur-of the-moment hike in my "neighborhood," a mild, gloveless, cloudy day. Arrived @ 12:30 to an empty lot, and bare-booted up the auto road to TH (wore s'shoes on the descent, as surface was a little greasy with the warm-up). After reading yesterday's report, I was determined to improve the Barlow trail if I could. Microspikes up the Winslow trail, which is well consolidated. Upper ice fields are buried beneath a smooth walkway. Attempts to consolidate/widen the Barlow boot track were to ?some avail, as I had a deuce of a time with the overlying thick crust. Barlow Trail would benefit from more s'shoe TLC in the next few days, please.

Arrived back @ car to find 2 others, and soon met a couple, and thereafter, a woman with a dog, just before departing @ 4:30
