Comments: Got out today to peak bag Chocorua. Started around 0700 at the Champney Falls Trailhead. The trail for the first 1.4 miles to the falls is extremely gradual and well packed out. This section is quick! Two or three water crossings which were of no issue. I imagine they will get even easier with oncoming cold weather

After the split for Champney Falls, the trail gets a little more difficult. Less traffic so it's not as well packed for the remaining 2.1 miles or so. Above treeline on the Piper Trail, the trail was difficult to follow as snow drifts were 3+ inches and the wind was howling. Just watch for cairns, blazes and where the snow had been stirred up.

I hiked the entire trip with my Kahtoola Micro Spikes. I brought my crampons in case I needed them but there was not any significant ice on top that caused issues. Finished the hike at about 1230 after eating lunch near the Falls. The water at Champney Falls is 90% frozen with only one small section of the river on the west side of the Falls still actively running.
