Comments
Comments: About as much of a layup as one can get, all trails nicely packed out with nary a posthole to be seen or made. The trail surface has ~ 1" of loose unconsolidated snow on top so I wore snowshoes on the ascent starting at the first water crossing. Out/back to Middle Tri was smooth sailing, even the slab/ice spots approaching N Tri summit (usually benefit from short bypasses) were snow covered and grippy, no bypasses even broken out. On the descent, I wore crampons from N Tri down PBB to the wilderness boundary, then barebooted the rest of the way out. Nice crisp day ~8-10 deg F around the ridgeline, no wind, just saw one other hiker. Related notes: friends did the W-E Tris/Sleepers/WF/Pway traverse this day so there is now some broken trail continuing to S Tri and across the Sleepers; I also saw rough broke trail out on the Scaur Ridge Tr side.
