| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The bridge on Lincoln Woods trail just past Osseo has a sign stating not to use it, and to use a detour. The detour seems to be “walk across the open river.” According to tracks in the snow, everyone is going around the barrier and using the bridge anyway. I did. I survived. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
No trouble for dogs on these trails. Mine had a good time. Open water available. We met a calm, friendly yellow lab who was having a good hike. |

| Lost and Found: |
The forest rangers are asking us to keep an eye out for a special bandana lost on Owls Head. If you find one, give it to them. |

| Comments: |
These trails are hard packed sidewalks. I easily barebooted the first (and last) 7 miles. Snowshoes went on for climbing up Brutus, for the traction and televators. Crampons could also be useful due to the steep grade. I don’t think micro spikes would get you up very easily. The snowshoes came in handy along the top of the mountain, which had freshly blown powder that filled and nearly obliterated the track with nice fluffy drifts. I was the first one up, but I was able to find the track. Snowshoes stayed on for the descent for traction. |
