There is no bad day in the forest, however I did not enjoy the trail conditions today. An easy enough ascent on Ranger, but the snow is crusty and the trail choppy. we wore snow shoes RT, but not enough traffic overall to create a decent track. I chose to descend Ranger and by the time I got back to the car, I had enough of the ankle turning over the frozen chunks. it never warmed up enough, nor did the sun come out to soften conditions and my feet took a beatin'. So to sum up, Ranger is still rough. My partner descended Lambert, because he needed it for r*dlining, and conditions were similar. 4 barebooters/spikers were headed up as he was coming down. |
