Started in spikes, was chewing up so swapped to snowshoes at the upper crossing with the xc trail on Rocky Branch Trail, wore the snowshoes back to the car. Even with 10-12 people out in snowshoes today the whacks are both wicked soft and the trails have a decent amount of loose snow on top, summit spur is luge tracked into oblivion. Both whacks were broken out in very meandering ways with the Engine Hill whack constantly trying to wander as far up into the upper portions of the glades as possible before taking a sharp turn down to about 50 yards below the start of Iso Express. The bottom half of Iso Express does an absurd amount of circling and angling up and consistently stays 50-100 yards farther north than the normal line, which made for following the whacks extremely confusing and strange to not be where I expect the trail to be located. As always, this mountain tried to steal my hood and stab me in the arms and legs incessantly |
