Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Would not take dog on ski slopes in season, although I spotted a few prints in the snow, so maybe someone had their pup with them while skiing before they open. Not sure any pups would want to wade through the deep crusty snow on the way to the actual summit.

Comments
Comments: Hiked up the ski slopes to the summit, trails are in great shape in prep for the official opening this weekend. That said, I am not sure if they will be charging a fee to hike to the summit once they are open.

There was a herd path into the woods to the south of the lift, so I entered at this location (avoid bushwhacking). Pretty post-holed and rough, but was better than forging my own trail. Unfortunately, once through this pine forest, the herd path ended. From here I bushwhacked across a scrappy young growth area that is likely wet in summer then forged to the top of the next smaller hill. This was very slow going with 1-2 feet of snow with a crust on top. Once at the top, I spotted multiple cairns that led me across the open area right to the summit. Still not so easy going due to the crust on the surface of 1-2 feet of snow, but the views were a good distraction. Plus, I really liked seeing all the moose activity in the area, but no sightings. Register (mason jar) was easy to spot on one of the trees at the true summit in the woods just across the open area.

I returned over the same trail/herd path, except between the initial smaller hill & potentially wet open area, and the pine forest. I thought there was a more gradual herd path coming off the steep hill, and that ended before I reached the pine forest. Now there are multiple paths that get you though this section. At least the path to the summit is broken, which should make subsequent travel easier via this route.
