Comments
Comments: Call it virtue signaling, but I wore snowshoes from start to finish. There I said it. The bushwack was mostly powder snow and a bit of mess from the bare booters. Trail conditions improved somewhat on the Imp trail and North Carter trail. The ridge is generally in good condition with a stable monorail marked by a number of deeper powdery drifts, postholes, and general churn. Not to sound like a snowshoe evangelist, but the televators alone make them worth strapping to your feet. Zeta Pass is/was packed out and Carter Dome trail was a solid monorail. While I may sound like I'm condemning the folks in spikes I can't help but salute the person or persons who apparently rode a fat bike up or down the trail. Didn't actually see the bike rider, but like Bigfoot, I saw the tracks and was impressed. To wrap things up, Nineteen Mile Brook (from Carter Dome trail back to the trail) was a solid sidewalk. Oh, and expect a lot of face slapping, hat grabbing, shoulder poking, eye gouging, snow dumping branches along the ridge.
