 | Comments: |
On the Camp Dodge cutoff took right hand fork to the IMP trail but it meanders around a bit and then heads straight up hill to join IMP. If doing again would have gone straight passing the buildings and connecting with the IMP trail sooner. IMP is easier to hike uphill in this area. Wore snowshoes the entire time. Spruce near and along the ridge have numerous eye pokers and branch grabbers/slappers. Ridge was well packed out and easy to follow except in open areas where blowing snow hid it. The ridge has lots of short ups and downs, some steep. Windy in open areas with some gusts 30-40 mph. Road walk back to Great Gulf Wilderness Trailhead parking lot is .5 miles and takes about 15 minutes. |
