Started up Polecat early enough to not interfere with skiers (apparently you have to be up before chairlift operations start and coming down after last chair.. these rules seem to change yearly).. snowshoes up the ski trail and across the ridge… we were the first to the ridge and encountered a frozen crust over fluffy snow.. yesterday’s precipitation and last night’s freeze… the descent down A… some sketchy sections (side-stepping) are now broken out but use care on these sections..1 technique, to face uphill and move horizontally worked well .. 19 MB is a postholed mess to the intersection of Carter Dome trail… from here to the parking lot was a smooth, fast out… again, if descending Wildcat A, use caution |
