Comments
Comments: Nice trail: recent temps have softened then hardened the surface and a monorail is starting to develop in some sections. Followed the Wapack then took a right onto the Kidder Mountain trail. It initially coordinates with the power line road which serves as a snowmobile trail in the winter. About .25 miles along, hikers take a left off the road and continue on a gradually rising trail to the summit. In the summer, this would be easy; with the packed, sometimes choppy snow, it borders on moderate. Near the summit, the trail crosses the snowmobile trail marked by two large urns! Continue up some moderate ledges and emerge at the top which has amazing views! One sign says you can see Boston! Wandered around a bit on the summit, enjoying the views and the occasional tree decorated with Xmas ornaments (most likely courtesy of the snowmobilers). Back down the same route: about 3 miles round trip. Nice hike after a long break!
