Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Heading up - about 1/3 mile above Allen's Ledge a duckunder 6-8 inches in diameter; past summit before east ledges - a number of stepovers from 4 inch diameter to 12 inch in diameter - some old and some new. Below east ledges - about a mile below - a stepover - 4 inch in diameter - a bit much for my trimming saw to take care of but I trimmed remaining branches so one can get over without problem.

Comments
Comments: Warm and sunny with some wind up top. Lots of people out today. Trail was pretty well dry - traces of snow up high and below east ledges, there were minor patches of ice that were easily avoided, some mud patches down low and a stretch with water on trail in usual spot before junction with ski trail. NOTE: there is a lot of logging activity in the area - start of Downes Brook trail is now a logging road - lots of tracks heading up, warning signs up UNH trail below Allen's ledge indicating that logging equipment is in area - there is a patch just off UNH trail that has been clear cut with a new logging road that I guess connects back to the Downes Brook trail you will cross - hate to see something like that on this trail.
