A very fine blue sky day. Trail is a crusty and occasionally icy path that will evolve into a good monorail. We did well with Hillsounds; didn't miss snowshoes at all. Scramble at summit was straightforward. A few feet of snow with a crust; postholes off to the side of the trail were frequent. All snow is off the trees, but sun filtering through was nice. Views from the summit were clear in all directions. An extra layer or two allowed liesure time on the summit. Many nice folks around.
