Comments
Comments: Snowshoes top to bottom today- we took heed of recent trail reports and hoped to assist in the consolidation of the trails. 19 mile brook is hard packed but the warm weather of last week left areas of postholing (part of my job is to dig actual post holes. So- from me the "post hole" assessment means one DEEP BAD leg breaking hole. Not like a little foot print) Realistically, in cold weather spikes are fine here unless you step off trail. The first mile of Carter Dome is in excellent shape- great work to those of you who set this trail. The second mile is still decent but snowshoes really should be considered a MUST from this point on. Carter-Moriah is a rough ride- an unconsolidated mess and pretty chewed up in places (and other places are solid. And other places are drifted. And other places have hip deep post holes.)

I hate to be a trail gate keeper, but with the warm days this week, please consider the safety of those behind you, and toss on the snow shoes. Snowshoes are not everyones favorite, but sinking knee/hip deep is not fun or safe for you or others. And in the meantime- enjoy those televators!
