Comments
Comments: Delightful conditions down low, as spikes were on until the North Carter trail jct on South Imp trail. Snowshoes here until the upper stream crossing on Carter Dome trail at the bottom of the switchbacks then spikes to the road. Today was one of those days where I was baffled by why people would carry snowshoes on their packs and wear spikes, not only are you trashing the trail and deserve to get gifted a future task of breaking out something long and tedious but how would spikes not ball up to death with the conditions on the ridge today? It was a combo of mashed potatoes, wet sanding, wet cement, and a wet caky slush in the sun and and mostly frozen granular in the shade, yeah the sun was wicked brutally hot out there today. My snowshoes were almost balling up and that is saying something about how spring like the conditions were today, maybe I should have gone for the presi peaks instead. As always it was a fight with the million blowdowns and tree branches in the trail corridor on the ridge
