A nice very March like day for Mt Cabot. Started with very scattered alternating freezing rain/snow showers with blue skies as reached upper elevations. There is a well established snowshoe track with approx 3/4" of granular to sticky snow over a rock solid base. Snowshoes from start to finish but could've used micros or even barebooted today. Chose the shoes to further pack trail and ease of travel. Highly recommend shoes in the quiver as temperatures will be warming and snow is quite deep on either side of the trail. It was nice briefly chatting with the two hikers both working on their grid. While I heard the roar of distant jets the only U.F.O. I witnessed was in the cabin itself.. * replaced the full cabin registry. vaguely recall there is someone that keeps track of these just can't remember who. Left old register under the new but could use some pencils, pens and maybe a large zip lock bag to keep tidy. York Pond beyond Bunnell intersection appear to be lightly broken out. Kilkenny Ridge trail towards Terrace Mountain appears to have a fairly well established track. |
