Bugs
Bugs: Lots of snow fleas up high, but who knew? "They are not actually fleas — and officially, they aren’t classified as insects, either; these small wingless creatures are often referred to as “springtails,” but their scientific name is Hypogastrura harveyi or Hypogastrura nivicola, depending on the species. Snow fleas are classified as hexapods, which is a subtype of the arthropod family. Like insects, snow fleas have six legs but researchers say that they are more closely related to crustaceans." Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Lost a water bottle on the ledges. Could not recover - I watched it roll down into oblivion. Sigh.

Comments
Comments: Mixed bag out there. Blueberry Ledge was packed down and easily navigated with spikes. I switched to trail crampons for the ledges because they terrify me, but spikes would have worked, too. Rollins was also packed down, though small drifts appeared from time to time. Spikes worked (I promise I wasn't post holing, though don't step off the side or you will SINK.) Dicey's Mill was another story - a post hole battlefield covered by a thin layer of snotty snow; boney at the bottom. The steeps going up to Passaconaway summit were the easiest I've experienced - snow-covered and hard packed. Spikes again. Glorious sunset coming off Passaconaway - looked like the forest was on fire.
