	Date of Hike:	Thursday, February 16, 2023

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	Huge parking lot only a few cars parked there

	Surface Conditions:	Snow - Wet/Sticky

	Recommended Equipment:	Snowshoes, Light Traction

	Water Crossing Notes:	Lower small stream just past underpass of parkway was frozen over. Above that 2 tiny streams open.

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	One diseased Beech Tree was lying over the trail so had to duck under it.

	Dog-Related Notes:	Great dog trail. Piper did well

	Bugs:	Actually there were flying midges low down.

	Lost and Found:	None


	Comments:	Afternoon hike with very warm temperatures 53 degrees at 2:00 PM and 45 degrees at 5:30 PM. Cloudy skies but views were nice. Saw some hikers when I was in the parking lot getting ready to leave. I asked them if snowshoes needed and they said no so I left them in the car. Hillsound Trail crampons were fine. Trail was soft snow but no post holes at all.
