Smart hikers headed out early to Cube today. I got to the trailhead at Noon and paid for it. Wore spikes to the last major crossing and then donned snowshoes, left them on for the duration. Even in MSR Revo’s, I was slipping and sinking all the way up from the crossing to the summits. On the way down, if I didn’t get toes in first, it was either ski time or glissade time and I experienced both. Gorgeous views, could see the entire spine of the Green Mts from Stratton to Camel’s Hump and even the snowcapped peak of what I think is Lafayette just to the right of Moose’s summit. If that is the wrong peak I’m naming, please let me know. |
