As was noted earlier on this website there is a sign for the Liberty Spring Cut- off on the bike path. It was still there as of 4 PM today. Cut off was hard packed. Flume Slide walk in was less packed however if you walked in the middle of the trail it was firm. The slide itself had lots of snow with only small patches of ice where the ice was too steep to hold snow. Easy to avoid. Since the trail steeps were a series of foot holes all the way up it was like climbing a ladder. Most of our group used crampons on the slide, which helped with the soft slippery snow steps. The day was sunny and warm which did soften the steps however the footing was pretty good today.
The rest of the day was on firm packed snow between the peaks and on the way down Liberty Spring where spikes were sufficient. This trail gets lots of traffic however the snow and ice were getting pretty soft with todays warm temperatures. Not many post holes on this trail. [but those without snowshoes are adding to the count!]
