Comments
Comments: Chose to ascend Lafayette first since the wind was forecasted to be WNW and I’d have the wind at my back on the ascent and somewhat behind me on the traverse.. in windy conditions my direction here is dictated by wind direction… the trail up is hard packed.. wore micros to the Hut then switched to K-10’s.. the ascent of Lafayette crosses a very hard/frozen snowpack that requires some caution… Rocky/icy, minimal snow conditions on the south side of both of these peaks… drifting in between was soft..FWT was in great condition despite the warm temps and the trail was fairly grippy… area to use caution was just to the W of Lafayette approx 100-200 yards below the summit
