Classic New England day - rain and thunderstorms, sun, deep freeze, snow.
Despite some grass showing on south-facing fields nearby, full snow/ice cover remains here (generally 6-12").
Trail was setting up late this afternoon. I didn't want to be a jerk and leave a bunch of divots and postholes, so I wore snowshoes roundtrip. Microspikes will probably be adequate until warmer weather is forecast to return Sunday/Monday. Footbed was going from spring snow to frozen granular this afternoon with some extended stretches of blue ice. |
