Fun day out with Danielle and Tom for his SSW48over70 project. Today got him over 50%. We were prepared to leave the cars with snowshoes, crampons, and ice axes not sure what we would find for conditions after the rain/freeze. Before we left though, two people who had gone up for sunrise came down and gave some great beta that there was no need for snowshoes. D and I ended up wearing hillsounds door to door. Tom wore Hillsounds up and K10s for the descent. The steeps are in good shape, hard packed with some decent steps and some breakable crust snow on the side if you need to kick in steps of your own. A little ice in a few places but not bad.
A few people had come up the Tripoli side. The chimney bypass is pretty easy right now, plenty taking the bypass to the bypass as well. |
