Comments
Comments: Fabulous fast spike conditions; saw no one in snowshoes but two in full crampons. After the A-Z Trail departs to the right, there are some Icy spots where the snow is swept away and where walking on the sides in the post holes is easier. I was never as grateful for postholes as when descending from Avalon. Even the Spur trail to summit was fine on spikes too.

Lots of fellow hikers here with many parties doing Tom-Field-Willey traverses or variants. Despite low grey clouds and filtered sunshine, visibility was high with fabulous views of the Presi’s from the peak, although windy so we didn’t linger as we usually do. Minor complaint: yellow snow right at the peak; sure would be nice to steer the doggies off to the side.

Second hike rehabbing the post-arthroscopy knee and couldn’t have picked a better trail for it.
