I met a volunteer maintainer who was headed out and gave him the good news that this loop was in great shape. Looks like someone was just out there and cleared a couple blowdowns on Summit West. |

I've been taking advantage of the light winter to get a jump on field work for the next AMC Southern NH Trail Guide. Conditions here on Crotched Mtn. were the same as on Pack Monadnock yesterday -- minimal snow, avoidable ice, and lots of bare ground.
I hadn't walked the Crotched ridge in a while and kinda forgot how interesting it is. Lots of boulders, talus, ledge outcroppings, and outlooks. Pretty neat terrain up there.
I stuck to the loop and didn't take the side trip to the summit. Overcast skies again to start but the sun came out during the descent. |
