Trails
Trails: Rocky Branch Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, February 24, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Winter parking is at the plowed end of Jerico Rd just before a gate, about 1.5 miles from the washed-out bridge (well tracked to bridge)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Unpacked Powder
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing the Rocky Branch River at the end of road required removal of snowshoes and climbing across a washed-out section of the bridge. Had to lift my dog up over my shoulders. Some side streams were lightly bridged over and you have to carefully pick the best crossing and footing
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: About 1/2 from the shelter, the river completely washed away the trail and there is no blazing directing you around that section. Just go left and then circle right to rejoin the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Tricky bridge crossing (see above)
