Great outing up the South Peak of Moose Mountain near Hanover. We broke trail all along the way(except for the section of Nat Thompson from the ski loop down) -some spots very manageable, other spots drifted and fairly deep (I was stepping down 10-12 inches). The earlier part of the morning was much easier, as temps were in the 20's F, as the temps rose the snow got wetter and stickier. We brought spikes but snowshoes were perfect the whole day. The views from the South Peak were great and we enjoyed scooting over to check out the shelter -also terrific views! only met one other person with a baby in a front pack- nice day to be out! Cool to see the Class of 1966 cabin! |
