One set of snowshoe prints from the road up to sugarloaf with several yards of snow mobile tracks just after that and the rest was completely unbroken by man or machine. Snowshoes the whole time was a must for me. I was solo and turned around probably three times, but decided to keep going each time. Not a fan of the severely eroded section just before the second water crossing and switch backs, but took my time, dug in well and didn’t slide too much. The rest of the trail was a pain with a few deep drifts, but I made it! The initial half was pretty good with an obvious trough where the trail had been broken before. Some balling under my shoes as the temps were making it a little sticky, but that ended after the first crossing. Saw no one from start to finish, but the person that went to sugarloaf had gone back out by the time a came down. Also some bare boot prints on the last half mile of the road. Seriously large rabbit prints all day. Just me out there and a lot of unconsolidated snow, so the snowshoes will be necessary for a while. |
