 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked at the unplowed Link Trail parking lot on Mountain Rd. Slushy but no real problem with it being unplowed. Room for 3-5 cars or so here I think. One other at 10am and 1:30pm maybe? We passed the plowed lot for White Dot Trail on the way in where there’s room for maybe a half dozen cars or so. A few were there at 10am. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Class 6 Rd is unblazed as far as I recall but trivial to follow since it’s a road; it’s also signed at jcts with other old roads. Red Dot Trail is blazed with the infamous Uncanoonuc red tin cans. Same with White Dot except white. Blue Trail is marked with blue blazes. Orange Dot is not an official trail and seems to be a series of herd paths but is blazed with faded orange paint. Reminded me of the blazes on the bootleg trail to Mt Hope. No blowdowns that I recall and signage was intact. |

So long as your dog can handle steep trails, you should be good. One seen. |

 | Lost and Found: |
Lost my neck gaiter that I ever so fashionably use as a hat but I went to retrieve it and someone I met along the way was kind enough to tell me where I’d left it and he’d hung it up on a tree for me :) |

A nice SNH redline with my father :) We ascended the steeper Red Dot Trail together, then descended the Blue Trail. While he soaked in the views, I descended White Dot Trail down the other side, then ascended the unofficial Orange Dot Trail. This trail is not signed or described in the guidebook but is blazed and shown on Gaia with multiple spurs of sorts to different points on the road. Just for the heck of it, I did them all.
I’m not sure I correctly found and followed the 25yd spur near the summit. Nothing really jumped out at me as a view spur. Trail conditions were not ideal with melting snow. We used spikes and we saw one using snowshoes and another carrying them but there wasn’t enough depth for them to be practical on my mind. Lots of frozen mini-postholes that turned to slush throughout the day. Some icy spots as well around the summit and a little bit of ice on White Dot Trail since it’s north-facing. Spikes worked well. Of course that’s all about to change with the incoming storm! I won’t give my stats for this one as they’re entirely unhelpful since I wondered to and fro on orange trail (all spurs were blazed in orange and Gaia did not place all of them terribly accurately) and had to reascend to the summit to retrieve my neck gaiter hat ;P |
