Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The main crossing has visible running water but is solidly ice bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are no visible stepovers (LOL) and two duck unders on Franconia Ridge Trail about 0.2 miles below Liberty on the way to Flume. They were delimbed (not recently) and seem to be actual duck unders only because the snow depth is currently high. There is a pretty new duck under in the vicinity of the tent site on Liberty Springs; it has been roughly delimbed.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw 3 today and they were having a blast in the fresh snow.
Bugs

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Someone lost a black hat on Franconia Ridge Trail between Flume and Liberty; the AMC group found it and hung it from a tree.

Comments
Comments: Thank you, thank you, thank you to whatever group broke out these trails yesterday. YESTERDAY!! I headed to this hike, this morning , with the intention of solo trail breaking as much as I could and calling it a day; when I saw the snowshoe track I realized that it was going to be quite a different day than I had expected!! I started up around 830 and there was an absolutely beautiful snowshoe track. Really very beautiful. Most of the work had been done from the Basin parking lot via the bushwhack, though there was a smaller track coming up Liberty Springs the normal way. Overnight there was maybe 2” new powder and there were 4 snowshoers ahead of me, and they laid additional beautiful tracks.
However, today I counted. There were 13 of us in snowshoes and 11 of them in microspikes. So the beautiful, wonderful, amazing snowshoe track is now a postholed disaster. It’s pretty sad.

In other news, Franconia Ridge Trail headed north from the Liberty Springs junction (towards Little Haystack) is broken out with a snowshoe track of at least a small group of people. No postholes visible. Flume Slide was also broken out (which was a little concerning).
