Very nice ridge walk. Snowshoes recommended. Didn't need crampons or spikes, shoes were plenty. Very bony with moderate drifts especially out of tree line approaching the Lafayette summit. We opted to keep on snowshoes and tried to stick to the snow. Others had bare booted.
The snowshoe trench is solid. The surrounding snow is not.
As expected, bare boots poke big holes in the sweet sidewalk flat snowshoe pack.
The ridge trail is a bit hard to follow, but the scree wall and cairns are visible here and there. Near the summits, the alpine courtesy bollards are also visible. |
