Many thanks to the folks who broke out Langdon Trail & Parker Trail Sunday following the recent snow! The snowshoe trench was waist deep on the north side of Oak Ridge. All smooth going made slightly annoying by the individual who decided bare booting the day after 12+ inches of snow was a good idea, leaving 4-16" post holes with every step up and down the mountain, but I suppose there will always be that someone out there.
Snowshoe track was solid in the morning, drifted just below the summit of Parker and beginning to get soft by 10am from the sun shining, despite the chilly wind. Speaking of which, I think the wind was actually stronger on the north side of Oak Ridge than on the actual open summit of Parker, maybe from getting funneled between land masses. I did not see tracks going past Mt Parker toward Resolution nor any tracks toward Mt Langdon.
The Cave Mt spur is now broken out, the snow was VERY soft by ~11am, saw a wet mass of snow fall from ledges to the right of the cave so just be careful in the warming sun with what lays upslope!
Needless to say, still snowshoe season out there, especially if the afternoons are going to keep getting above the freezing point.
A more detailed write up is included down below with photos and all the good stuff. Enjoy!
Happy Climbing! |
