Comments
Comments: Snow conditions here are still loose and soft and Chippewa Trail had been churned up by boot traffic. I wore snowshoes round-trip to help smooth things over and for the added traction and heel lifts on the steeps. As long as these warmer conditions persist, snowshoes are the best tool.

Stellar views today and no wind at all. Another gorgeous visit to this peak.

Some notes regarding winter parking for Black Mtn. Trail:

+ I checked out the parking at the end of Howe Hill Rd. As expected, the last quarter mile to the formal parking area is not plowed. I had read conflicting reports of no parking signs at the last house where plowing stops but I didn't see any. That said, there is no room to park here without blocking their driveway access. As I understand it, this was a big problem during the height of covid, so in the interest of good hiker/landowner relations, hikers are advised to go elsewhere if they can't get to the actual parking area.

+ As luck would have it, I met a local resident who lives on Howe Hill Rd. at the summit. He confirmed that the landowner at the end of the road does not like people parking near their house due to past problems.
