Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fin did great. Easy dog trail. Forgot to put her musher’s wax on and she got one ice-ball built up on front paw just before summit. Best way I’ve found to get rid of these without yanking(extremely painful for them) is to chew them off. the things we do for our beloved canines…
Bugs
Bugs: Margaret spotted lots of snow fleas

Comments
Comments: first ones up Cube in amazing conditions this morning. We had a goal of four hours car to car and made it with five minutes to spare! The trail was in amazing shape up until the last switchback/summit cone ascent. The last hiker down last night in the warm temps decided to butt-sled the steeps, turning them into a slick luge track, while simultaneously postholing the crap out of the trail every step they took between sled runs. Any energy/time they saved sledding was negated by their obnoxious postholing. I hope this inconsiderate mental midget postholes themselves straight to the underworld, as it made the steep section extremely difficult and dangerous for my 5-year old. it was no issue with mountaineering snowshoes, but unfortunately kiddy spikes/snowshoes were no match. Saw six Massachusetts microspikers coming up behind us, one of whom told my daughter “snowshoes are hard”. Lol-no, in fact snowshoes in 40-degree sunny weather in 2-3 foot snowpack is the opposite of hard!
