Comments
Comments: I was hoping for Sandwich Dome and Jennings, but the trail past Noon peak was not broken. So I sucked it up and pushed my way to the Jennings Peak spur and up to the summit. Snow was deep and drifted. Snowshoeing through the drifts was actually easier than following the previous bare boot trench. That was hell. However, the view from Jennings was spectacular, with some added views thanks to a good 4 foot snow pack. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to take Drakes Brook trail down (which had not been broken). I get nervous going down steep stuff so I didn't really want to go back the way I came and battle my nerves on Sandwich Mtn tr. It took me 2 hours to go the 2.8 miles to the crossing of the brook. The lower I got, the more I sunk into the snow, as temperatures warmed into the low 40s. It was impossible to avoid the bareboot trench, so it was very slow going. I about cried tears for joy when I got to the groomed section of Drakes brook trail. From there it was a slow but easy walk back to the car.
